The Great Smoky Mountains is home to five forests types. Pigeon Forge is one of the best examples of how Mother Nature can paint a canvass of a masterpiece. It is home to a thousand different species of flora, trees, animals, and plants. It has one of the riches biodiversity around the globe. In fact, more than 20,000 volunteers have been helping document these species up until today. They are still discovering new ones as we speak and it is exciting to know that there are a lot more organisms we can gaze upon and admire.
Pigeon Forge is also not far from the biggest underground lake in North America. It is called the Lost Sea, and it can be found in Sweetwater, Tennessee. You can embark on this nature trail that lasts about an hour and thirty minutes. You will start by going through the Great Craighead Cave which is on the list of National Register of Historic Places since 1976. The cave has a fascinating history and is home to stalactite and stalagmite formations. The round trip walk is around a quarter of a mile so make sure your health is up for a walking exercise.
The underground lake has beautiful clear waters. It is home to around 400 rainbow trout fishes to date. The fishes were initially placed in the lake in the year 1967 as an experiment to see if the water flowed out of the lake. They are still kept in the lake because the tourists enjoy watching the fishes during the tour. The warm waters of the lake are around 56 degrees, and it has a natural moisturizing element in its composition. The lake is approximately eight hundred feet long and two hundred twenty feet wide. The deepest part of the cave can go up to 70 feet. That is as tall as a six-story building!
Another mysterious and majestic sight you can witness in Pigeon Forge is the migration of monarch butterflies. This yearly event happens as the butterflies from the north migrate to different parts of the continent. The migration usually takes place around September. If that’s not enough for you, another beautiful thing to get a glimpse of is the mating rituals of the fireflies. The male fireflies try to flash and impress stationary females which also give off light as a response. As you can see, there are a lot of shows that do not involve human participation but is just as beautiful.
Maybe this is why a lot of people have chosen to get married in Pigeon Forge. Today, there are around twenty different chapels that can accommodate romantic weddings. The majestic horizon in Pigeon Forge will surely be more than enough to give you an unforgettable wedding.

A lot of establishments, entertainment, and local attractions have been put up to cater to the millions that visit every year. When you arrive, you’ll genuinely be greeted with the beauty of the natural creations around you. First off, you can’t just pick or uproot any flower and catch as much fish as you can. You must have a license to catch fish, and there’s a limit to how many you can catch.
